‘Moscow module’ of MGIMO-Tashkent training programme: interview with the ICF scholarship recipients
The so-called ‘Moscow module’ of MGIMO-Tashkent training programme has come to an end. Within this module, the ICF grant and scholarship recipients were studying at MGIMO Moscow campuses on Vernadsky Avenue and in Odintsovo, and were given an opportunity to actively participate in local educational events.
Throughout the semester, we have been staying in touch with the students to find out how they have been progressing with their academic and social life.
‘At the moment we are very enthusiastic about studying financial law, criminology, labour law, civil and commercial law of foreign countries, civil procedural law, as well as English and French. We believe that MGIMO will give us the opportunities for self-realization, which we will certainly implement,’ said Tatyana Soboleva, ICF grant holder andsecond-year student at the Faculty of Law at MGIMO-Tashkent. Tatyana said that students took part in two conferences, on digital law and on current issues in teaching comparative and international civil procedure, and also immersed themselves in the interesting student life of Moscow MGIMO.

‘This period is an important part of my educational journey, which began at MGIMO Tashkent. In Moscow, I not only continue my studies, but also actively participate in the cultural and sports life of the city and the university. At MGIMO-Odintsovo I study various disciplines that help me expand my knowledge and develop my professional skills. I am also taking training in Python and Product programming Management at School 21 of Sberbank. This course allows me to gain valuable knowledge in the field of IT and product management.’

‘Days at the university are interesting, the campus is very diverse, the studies are exciting and also varied. I think the whole trip itself is an incredibly valuable experience and I have always dreamed of studying abroad. In addition to gaining more experience, independence and responsibility, in general you feel that you are becoming more mature. And, of course, the city of Moscow itself is magnificent and very beautiful.’
Saidolim Bakhromkhodzhaev
‘Studying in Moscow gives each of us invaluable experience and unforgettable memories. Here we study in depth and in detail various branches of law, as well as foreign languages – English and French. I especially like learning languages. During my stay in Moscow, I managed to take part in three scientific conferences dedicated to various legal issues, and also in the MGIMO competition Law Championship, which attracted the representatives of the best Russian law schools. Separately, I would like to highlight the festival dedicated to the French language, Publimanie 2023, which helped to unite us with our Moscow colleagues. In our free time, we love to explore Moscow itself. During out 2 months here we visited many interesting cultural places, and also visited the northern capital of Russia, St. Petersburgh. Studying here provides many opportunities to become highly qualified specialists, which certainly makes us happy.’

About participation in educational events
‘One of the important events of my stay in Russia was participation in the Third International Forum of Young Leaders ‘Russia – Central Asian Region’, held in Omsk with the support of Rosmolodezh. This forum brought together 100 participants from 6 countries and united them into 9 international teams. This event provided me with a unique opportunity to establish useful contacts, exchange knowledge and experience. My team was awarded the “Best Youth Gastronomic Tour” award, which became a special pride for our Uzbekistan delegation.’
Madinabo Turdillaeva
‘As part of the Moscow semester, I continue my studies at MGIMO Odintsovo. This semester represents an important part of my academic and cultural development. Here I continue my studies, adhering to high academic standards, and deepen my knowledge in various areas, including programming languages (such as Python), and ProductManagement, thanks to courses at School 21 from Sberbank.’

‘Studying at the Tashkent campus gave us the opportunity to finally visit the capital of Russia and gain invaluable educational experience at MGIMO as part of the “Moscow module.” Studying on the campus on Vernadsky Avenue is not only exciting in terms of studying law, as our main specialty, and foreign languages, but also in terms of participating in various scientific and cultural events. Over the past month, we took part in MGIMO Law Championship, in which we competed in the field of criminal law, and took part in the month of the French language, Publimanie 2023. I also attended a number of scientific conferences dedicated to the field of digital law and the problems of teaching civil procedure, and also made mew friends among the international students.’
Radmir Gainutdinov
‘I would especially like to note the two-week intensive course at School 21 of Sberbank, where my colleagues and I studied the Python programming language and the basics of Product Management. This experience was beneficial in developing our technical skills and understanding current technology trends.’
Nurzada Glushchenko
‘Within the Moscow module, we are not only gaining knowledge from highly qualified specialists, but also receiving invaluable experience. We are meeting representatives of different countries. I think that this time spent in Moscow will be an unforgettable period of our lives, because here we develop not only as students, but also as individuals. Studying at MGIMO is a unique process that requires a lot of time and effort, but is definitely worth it. During the time we spent here, we studied many disciplines, from various branches of law to foreign languages. Extracurricular activities are also important to us: we try to lead an active social life and participate in various events, such as MGIMOLaw Championship and Publimanie 2023.

‘A month has already passed since our temporary move to Moscow. For each of us, this is an exciting and invaluable experience: we become more independent, expand our horizons, gain knowledge, and develop in different areas. I love various student associations, and already take an active part in events. I managed to attend several scientific conferences on law, and I plan to attend two more conferences, a student forum, and also take part in the Parliamentary model and the EAEU model. The Moscow campus provides a lot of opportunities for development, which is very exciting! The student spirit and atmosphere on the main MGIMO campus is truly amazing, it’s incredibly nice to know that you are a part of a great history.’
Diora Rajabova
‘Moscow MGIMO has a huge number of student clubs, they are lively and have many participants. In general, social life is very active. It is clear that everyone is excited about their studies and social life, they are really happy to study at MGIMO. I also joined the legal club and applied to participate in the EAEU model – it will take place in December. I really like studying at MGIMO, I really like the atmosphere, the social life of the university, and Moscow itself. I believetrip will have a positive effect on me as a person, because I can learn a lot of new things, get acquainted with a new, previously unfamiliar environment. It’s also important that I learn to live independently, away from my parents, immerse myself in everyday life and begin thinking more about things I hadn’t thought about before.’

This includes visits to famous museums and galleries, such as the Museum of Art, the Tretyakov Gallery, and the Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater. I visited many museums and galleries, including the Tretyakov Gallery and VDNK, as well as the Museum of Applied Arts, which helped me better understand Russian culture. Sport is an important part of my life and I actively participate in sporting events. Ruslan Bakhodurov
‘Our stay in Moscow gave us the opportunity to thoroughly explore this wonderful city with a thousand-year history, admire its beauty, visit parks, galleries and museums. We also visited St. Petersburg and appreciated its splendor! What a pity that I won’t have time to see everything before leaving! I would like to note that studying at this university is a truly invaluable and rare experience!’
Radmir Gainutdinov
‘From the first days of our arrival in Moscow, we felt a warm and sincere welcome from Odintsovo students, who also organized a quest for us around the campus. Here I continue my education by attending various courses and lectures. In my free time, I discover the cultural life of Moscow. I was able to visit the famous Red Square with my friends, and many museums, including the Tretyakov Gallery. I also saw the performance at the Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater. In addition to academic and cultural activities, I am also actively involved in sports. Thanks to free access to the university’s health and fitness facilities, I work out regularly in the gym, which helps me stay fit and healthy. Overall, I am very excited about this experience and the opportunity to learn and grow in such a unique and inspiring environment.’

Nurzada Glushchenko
‘I regularly visit museums and galleries, including the Tretyakov Gallery. This gives me a unique opportunity to get acquainted with the Russian art and culture. I also visit the Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater – for me this is a chance to immerse myself in the world of Russian classical music and dance. In addition, I actively participate in the sports life of the university. Recently I took part in several friendly football matches, where I acted as captain of the MGIMO-Odintsovo team.
This period of studying and living in Moscow turns out to be incredibly productive. It allows me to develop academic skills and actively participate in cultural and sports life, expanding my horizons and strengthening ties with Russian culture and traditions.’
Shokhiddin Tashtemirov
‘On weekends we admire the delights of Moscow, studying its culture and history. In addition, we recently visited the northern capital of Russia, St. Petersburg. All this motivates us to tirelessly develop and achieve more!’
Ismoil Nabiev
‘On weekends, we don’t forget to walk and visit interesting places. Every week we make a plan and go to admire the beauty and vastness of Moscow!’
Diyora Razhabova
‘This trip allowed me to get acquainted with the beautiful city of Moscow – it is an amazing city, very versatile, lively, dynamic. If you walk the streets, you will notice the different pace of life here. Moscow architecture – how multifaceted it is! You can walk and admire the different styles, as if you were in a museum. My friends and I also visited the old and new Tretyakov galleries, the Art cinema, which has a rich history – it has been operating since the beginning of the 20th century, and we walked around the city. This is how we usually spend our weekends: one day is dedicated to going to new places or walking around the city, and the second day is dedicated to studying. Studying is difficult, regardless of whether we are in Moscow or Tashkent, and every year it becomes more and more difficult, which, of course, is natural.’
