ICF to help fight the spread of coronavirus
At a video conference on 18 March 2020, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev raised the issue of combating the spread of the Covid-19 coronavirus in the country. “Our country has sufficient reserves, there is no reason for concern or panic. At the same time, we must confront the problem together, acting as a whole,” said the President, stressing that the situation is under the full control of the state.
On 19 March 2020, the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On priority measures to mitigate the negative impact on the economy of the coronavirus pandemic and global crisis” was issued. The decree includes a number of measures aimed, inter alia, at social support of the population, protection of health, employment and income of Uzbeks.
The International Chodiev Foundation (ICF) joins the Government’s fight against the spread of coronavirus by launching an extensive charity program to support vulnerable segments of the population of Uzbekistan.
The first stage of support, carried out jointly with the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan, includes the provision of food and disinfectants to the elderly and low-income families throughout the country.
The representative office of the International Chodiev Foundation in Uzbekistan joins the calls of the Government of Uzbekistan and the World Health Organization (WHO) to carefully implement recommendations for observing the necessary rules of conduct in the context of a viral infection pandemic. Recommendations in Uzbek will also be included in humanitarian aid kits.
There is no doubt that the wise and strong people of Uzbekistan will unitely overcome this unprecedented challenge. The International Chodiev Foundation will make every effort to provide effective support to the measures of the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the fight against the spread of coronavirus throughout the country.
