International Chodiev Foundation becomes a partner of the Sakhovat Center in providing emergency assistance to citizens of Uzbekistan in Russia

The International Chodiev Foundation (ICF) continues a large-scale charity program to support citizens of Uzbekistan during the COVID-19 epidemic, as part of government measures to combat the spread of coronavirus according to the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated March 19, 2020.

ICF becomes a partner of the Sakhovat Center to assist labor migrants from Uzbekistan and their families in Russia.

Sakhovat was created in Moscow by immigrants from Uzbekistan with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Russian Federation.

The main objective of the Sakhovat Center is to provide emergency assistance to Uzbeks and their families left without work and livelihoods in Russia, and those who did not manage to return to their homeland due to the introduction of quarantine measures to combat COVID-19.

Currently, Sakhovat operates in Moscow and the Moscow Region, and at the same time, the Center is developing its activities in other large cities of Russia. A system has already been put in place to provide targeted assistance in the form of delivery of food packages and medicines to needy Uzbeks. Work is underway to create a system of direct financial assistance. First of all, assistance will be provided to women, families with young children, the elderly and the disabled.

ICF will provide funding to ensure the successful and efficient operation of the Sahovat Center and expand its geographical presence, with the goal of providing assistance to as many citizens in need as possible.

The founder of the Foundation, philanthropist Fattah Chodiev commented on this initiative:

“We welcome this initiative and thank the founders and volunteers of the Sakhovat Center and all the people who are not indifferent to the fate of the citizens of Uzbekistan who, for one reason or another, find themselves in a difficult situation in Russia. According to our data, about one million Uzbek citizens living in the Russian Federation may need emergency assistance. Many of them are labor migrants who have lost their jobs and found themselves in difficult life circumstances. We are ready to work actively with the Sakhovat Center in order to provide assistance to needy and vulnerable citizens of Uzbekistan and their families.”

The International Chodiev Foundation will also continue its charitable program to support citizens of Uzbekistan during the COVID-19 epidemic, carried out in Uzbekistan together with the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and will announce the next phase of assistance in the near future.
