The aim of the event was to discuss the issues of modern school education in Russia and work out new approaches to the development of general education, as well as closer integration of school and higher education.

‘The main idea of our event, its, if you like, DNA, is to shape the vision of the School of the Future through research-based discussions’, said MGIMO Rector Anatoly Torkunov, addressing the conference participants. Among them there were Sergey Kravtsov, Minister of Education of the Russian Federation, Olga Vasilyeva, President of the Russian Education Academy, Elena Shmeleva, member of the Presidium of the Russian Presidential Council on Science and Education, as well as other well-known educational experts.

Speaking at the Plenary session, Anatoly Torkunov announced the launch of a special fund to support new promising but little-known initiatives in the field of school education development. The Fund was established by MGIMO with the assistance of ICF and other organisations.

The conference was organised by MGIMO, together with ‘New Vision’ Educational Initiatives Support Fund under the auspices of the Russian Ministry of Science and Education and the Ministry of Education.
