ICF awards the winners of the 2024 student work competition of the Association of Japanologists

Moscow, Russia – Today, the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) proudly hosted its annual awards ceremony to honour the winners of a prestigious student work competition. This event was organized by the Association of Japanologists in collaboration with MGIMO’s Centre for Japanese, Korean and Mongolian Studies, with support from the International Chodiev Foundation (ICF).

The competition, now a cherished tradition, aims to support and inspire young scholars of the Japanese studies, and attracts undergraduate, specialist, and postgraduate students. Participants submitted their works in two distinct categories: modern Japan, which covers topics such as foreign and domestic policy, economy, society, and culture; and traditional Japan, focusing on history, literature, and cultural studies. This year, the laureates hailed from Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Vladivostok, showcasing the diverse talent across the country.

Olga Monakhova, Director of ICF office in Russia, commented:

Today, we celebrate the hard work and dedication of our young Japanologists. Their contributions to the understanding of Japan’s rich culture and history are invaluable. We are thrilled to support these future scholars as they continue their academic journeys.

The awards ceremony not only recognised the achievements of the winners but also highlighted the importance of the Association of Japanologists in fostering cultural exchange and understanding between nations. As ICF continues to promote academic excellence and research in international studies, events like this play a vital role in encouraging students to engage with global issues and broaden their perspectives.

ICF expresses heartfelt congratulations to all the winners and wishes them continued success in their academic pursuits.
