ICF Unveils Unique Eight-Volume Collection of Classical Japanese Poetry
Moscow, Russia – Yesterday, the National Research University Higher School of Economics in Moscow hosted the presentation of a unique eight-volume collection of classical Japanese poetry. The collection, which was made possible with support from the International Chodiev Foundation, covers a span of nearly 1,500 years, from ancient times to the present day, making it a one-of-a-kind compilation in the realm of literary translation.
The series, enriched with captivating illustrations, offers an extraordinary panorama of Japanese poetry in terms of both scale and stylistic diversity. In addition to the poems themselves, the publication includes extensive introductory articles, appendices, and comments, providing further insights into the subject matter.
Alexander Dolin, a celebrated expert in Japanese studies, poet, writer, translator, and author of over 60 books, played a pivotal role in the creation of this collection. He has received numerous accolades from both Russian and Japanese institutions and is currently a professor at the School of Oriental Studies, Higher School of Economics. Mr Dolin holds an honorary professorship at Akita International University, where he has been teaching Russian and Japanese literature as well as comparative culture for more than 25 years.
