ICF awards diplomas to the latest intake of scholarship students at MGIMO
The International Chodiev Foundation (ICF) is delighted to have awarded diplomas to the latest intake of talented scholarship students at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO).
The latest recipients of the ICF scholarship attended an awards ceremony with Olga Monakhova, Director of the ICF Representative Office in Russia, Alexander Torkunov, Rector of MGIMO, Artem Malgin, Vice-Rector for General Affairs and Marina Petrova, Director of MGIMO Endowment Fund.
During the meeting, Rector Alexander Torkunov spoke passionately about MGIMO graduate, member of the MGIMO Board of Trustees and one of MGIMO Endowment Fund’s Founders, Dr Patokh Chodiev, in addition to the ICF’s scholarship and training programmes and international internships. Then followed a discussion about the new dimensions of diplomacy and international issues raised at the Paris Peace Forum, which the MGIMO delegation attended. Students shared their successes and spoke about the educational and social initiatives that they are involved with. Olga Monakhova shared her inspirational memories of studying at MGIMO together with ICF Founder Dr Patokh Chodiev, and explained the history behind the ICF’s scholarship programme at MGIMO. At the end of the meeting, the students were each awarded a diploma.
The ICF launched the scholarship programme with MGIMO in 1997, which initially consisted of an offering of monthly scholarships for top students at the International Law School. In 2011, the programme was extended to five further schools within MGIMO: Political Science, International Journalism, International Relations, International Economic Relations and Law schools, and the Department of Japanese language. Since the programme’s launch, more than one hundred students have received grants from the Foundation.
